Wooden tools
Peasant tools were usually home-made. Tools were made in the autumn and winter at the carpenter's bench in the main room of the house. If the house didn't have its own workshop, the metal parts were made by the village blacksmith. The tools were the result of long natural development. An old and worn tool fits the hand and is a thing of beauty, reflecting the maker's practical aesthetic sense. |
