Chests and bushels
Valuable objects and clothes were kept in chests and trunks. A bride would have a bridal box with her when she moved to live with her husband. The box would contain artfully embroidered linens collected over the years. For the journey to church the ladies of the house would have their beautifully painted church bushels. Johan Fredrik Röman was a famous Jämsä bushel and chest painter. |
